Anatomy

The Department of Anatomy at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) serves as a cornerstone of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, providing essential structural and foundational knowledge to future medical professionals.

Key Focus Areas

  • Gross Anatomy & Dissection: Master structural morphology using modern cadaveric study and advanced 3D anatomical modelling.

  • Microscopic Anatomy (Histology): Analyze tissues and cellular configurations using advanced microscopic techniques.

  • Developmental Anatomy (Embryology): Study prenatal structural development, congenital anomalies, and clinical embryology.

  • Neuroanatomy: Investigate the human nervous system to build an essential foundation for clinical neurology and neurosurgery.

  • Medical Genetics: Explore hereditary structural abnormalities under specialized faculty expertise.

Core Goals

  • Foster Clinical Integration: Adapt the core anatomical curriculum to align directly with diagnostic, radiological, and surgical applications.

  • Advance Academic Research: Drive innovative research in physical anthropology, anatomical variations, and medical education curriculum design.

  • Deploy Digital Innovation: Utilize high-fidelity simulations, multimedia learning tools, and e-learning integration to shift away from traditional rote memorization.

  • Cultivate Professional Competence: Train students to master technical terminology, ethical medical practices, and analytical clinical reasoning
